About Gunny

Woof!

Have you ever seen a cuter bulldog, with all those wrinkles and cankles?!

My name is Winston "Gunny" McSquishyface, an English Bulldog living in the beautiful Truckee Meadows area of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. I was born on 23 August 2017, so as of now, I'm just shy of two years old, but I'm still all puppy!

Let me tell you my priorities in life:

  1. People
  2. Food
  3. Playing with my hooman boy
  4. Food
  5. Sleep
That should just about break it down for you. My pawrents will be sharing adventures of Gunny here, introducing some of my pals, sharing the things they learned and are still learning about raising an amazing, but decidedly high-maintenance breed of dog, and debuting my personal line of gear, Gunny Wear. I also might chat about being a beta tester for BarkBox from time to time, and about the other things I play with and don't destroy in a New Bork minute (I've never been to New Bork City, but that sounds awfully fast)! You'll hear about foods for bulldoggos, training tips for how stubborn our breed is too. Subscribe to this blog and don't miss an article!

I'm the first non-rescue doggo my pawrents have ever had. They've always had one, two, three, maybe more rescues, so please don't judge me and them badly for learning I am an AKC, pedigree-lineage boy. They care for my rescue dog siblings every bit as much. Their hope is that soon, I can be trained to be a therapy dog and hang out with special needs kids and in schools. Maybe that won't happen, but I do have big potential to be able to help there. My breeder family took meticulous care to ensure my sire and dame were in excellent health, without joint and breathing problems, healthy hearts and lungs, and more! It's said that one of my granddoggies was a National Grand Champion! I also absolutely will not be bred. In fact, I'm already fixed, and I was a contributor to a Purdue veterinary school DNA study for "brachycephalic" dog breeds to try to find health issues and give my English Bulldog brethren a chance to survive as a better species. We are definitely lovers and lazy dogs!

Did you know that English Bulldogs can have as short a life expectancy as 8 years? I wanna live to be much older than that.

Where else to find me...

Not everyone wants a blog to follow. Sometimes they want a social media place to go, so fear not! Gunny is on FacebookInstagram, and Twitter. Please drop by and give me a follow! My cameos are usually pretty impromptu. The pawrents don't dress me up in a bunch of exciting gear and outfits, but I have my moments. In fact, my pawpaw is usually homebound with migraines, so a lot of my pics are at home and in the yard, but don't fret, my boy keeps me fit and in fine specimen shape! They call me "Not The Fat Boy!" Hahaha!
